Christy Culp

Christy Culp started working in clay at Indiana University of Pennsylvania when studying for her teaching degree in 1991. She teaches art at Deer Lakes High School. When not teaching, she can be found in her recently finished barn studio on the small berry farm she and her husband share in Butler. Christy's work reflects a life of gardening, farms, and time spent in kitchens. Her goal is to bring beauty to the ritual of everyday eating and drinking. Red earthenware, white slips and colorful underglazes allow her to decorate her functional pieces with blackberries, bees, oranges, lemons and whatever the current crop from her garden.
