Artist Bio:
Kyle Houser’s ceramic
work has been exhibited in galleries, museums and festivals throughout
the United States, from Florida State University Museum’s International
to Kent State’s National Cup Show. He is part of private and public
collections across the U.S. and in Norway, Australia, and Canada. Kyle
was one of only 14 Americans selected to exhibit in The International
Festival of Postmodern Ceramics in Varazdin, Croatia where his piece
is now a part of the permanent collection of the Croatian Ceramics Association.
He has participated in residencies focusing on community-based ceramic
studios as well as those focusing on his own personal work. Currently

pottery and electric kiln fired sculptural works. Multiple fired surface
treatments and layered imagery are a common thread in both series of
works.

work, Kyle has been highly involved with art education. Prior to attending
graduate school, he taught Fine Art and Graphics at the secondary level
for nine years. Most recently Mr. Houser has been working as an adjunct
professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania teaching art history,
art education and as of this summer, beginning ceramics. Kyle also serves
as the Director for the art department’s Kipp Gallery where he
coordinates all events related to the gallery as well as curating exhibitions.
For the past three years, Kyle served as the Kilnmaster and Ceramics
Studio Manager for The Chautauqua Institution’s School of Art
in Chautauqua, New York.
Kyle Houser received a Bachelor
of Science degree in studio art from Florida State University and a
